Roof and Gutter Replacement and Repair in Northern Virginia
Did you know there are a ton of different architectural options available for roof replacements and gutter replacements? At Phase II Renovations, Inc., we can help you decide on a perfect architectural design for your Northern Virginia home.
A soffit describes the underside of an arch, or the overhanging section of a roof installation. It’s generally the material forming a ceiling from the exterior wall of the house, out to the edge of the roof, bridging a gap between the sidings and rooftop. An exposed soffit gives your house a dynamic profile, especially from the wall to the fascia. The fascia is the vertical band formed beneath a roof’s edge, made of wood, non-corrosive sheet metal, or UPVC. It may be used to hold a gutter installation and can be ornate or a more plain, wide band.
An eave or cornice along the gable end of the roof is referred to as the rake. It’s sloped along the outside edge of the roof, and typically each gable on a modern home will have two rakes.
Another decorative band for a roof is a frieze board. It can be customized with lettering, sculptures, or other decorative features.
